Treaty Reinsurance
Kiln has been a major leader of short-tail reinsurance for nearly fifty years, writing catastrophe, per risk and aggregate excess of loss reinsurance, and also pro-rata reinsurance for a wide spectrum of clients throughout the world.
Our reinsurance underwriters look to identify and understand the objectives of our clients and build long-term relationships to provide consistent support to our customers. This partnership approach means that the majority of our larger relationships can be traced back to Robert Kiln’s founding of the company in 1962.
Our underwriters look to gain a firm understanding of new clients to ensure that the reinsurance we offer fits with the needs of the reinsured and that we maximise the potential benefits. We spend a significant amount of time travelling around the world talking to clients and brokers in order to strengthen relationships and gain a greater understanding of our clients and markets.
Business is written through Kiln's Lloyd's Syndicates 510, with additional capacity provided in certain territories by the parallel Syndicate 1880. In addition to our London based team of underwriters in Lloyd's, we have dedicated treaty reinsurance underwriters located in our service company in Singapore, offering a local service to Asian producers.
Classes of business reinsured include:
- Property
- Auto physical damage
- Crop
- Personal accident
- Workers’ compensation
